Two main ways to play Limited in Lorcana.

Sealed Deck: You’re provided with six booster packs to use as your individual card pool, from which you’ll build a 40-card deck using any number of different inks (instead of just two inks). You’ll open 72 cards in total across your six packs, select 40 of them, and then you’ll play games against opponents who have also built Sealed Decks.

Booster Draft: Players are given four booster packs each, and they pass cards to each other while picking the ones they want. From the 48 drafted cards, each player builds a 40-card deck using any number of different inks (rather than two). You’ll usually draft at a table with 8 players, seated in a circle. Everyone opens their first booster pack simultaneously, selects a card from it, and adds it to their pool.

What To Look For When Building A Limited Deck?

In a nutshell, Limited is about choosing the best 40 cards from your pool, and the tier list below can help you with that. Most of your cards will be Commons, and the best ones are generally high-cost characters with abilities that help you maintain a favorable board state.

These are the best cards in the set, and I would first-pick them over any Common or Uncommon. I’ve ranked all cards in order within tiers, so in a first-pick, first-pack context in draft, Belle – Accomplished Mystic and Diablo – Devoted Herald are the cards.

In my evaluation, the best Commons for Limited are Chien-Po – Imperial Soldier, Tick-Tock – Ever-Present Pursuer, and Pluto – Rescue Dog. Well-statted characters that cost five or six ink are always in high demand in Limited, especially when they dominate combat, challenge favorably, or protect your characters.
