If you’re not familiar with the Lorecast, it’s an official stream over on the Disney Lorcana Twitch Channel where the Ravensburger team sit down to discuss upcoming product releases and make any announcements regarding the future of Lorcana. The first one was an absolute blast where we saw Ursula’s Return for the first time, and learned all about the Disney Lorcana Challenges, their prize cards, and their two-game tournament structure.
As a result, I thought it’d be lovely to live-blog my thoughts and immediate reactions to the latest installment of the Lorecast as they happened for TCGplayer! I’ll break down all the reveals and goodies from the show so you’re up to speed on everything coming to Lorcana.
Opening Cinematic Reveal For Set 5
After some routine technical issues the stream was launched with a brand new cinematic. This sneaky peek turned out to be a reveal for Lorcana’s next booster set, Shimmering Stars! The full video’s already live on YouTube, so you can check it out right here.
The set’s designed to take place directly after the events of Ursula’s Return. The Mad Sea Witch has been defeated, and it’s time for a grand celebration. There are all kinds of circus-inspired party games and antics (including a food fight caused by one particular Goof…). Shimmering Stars is supposed to be a celebration of all we’ve achieved as Illumineers, so it looks like it’ll have a very light, bouncy theme to it.
That said, something’s clearly amiss with the Grand Illuminary that’s going largely unnoticed by the partying masses. Parts of the building itself are collapsing and falling to the ground…. but why? What’s happening to our beloved building?
Shimmering Stars will be the fifth booster set for Disney Lorcana, and it’ll be releasing at your local game stores on August 9th 2024. The full big-box release will come on August 23rd for those not lucky enough to have an LGS to play at.
New Product Releases
There’s a slew of products dropping alongside Shimmering Stars, most of which we’ve grown to expect with each new set release. The first of these are two brand new starter decks: An Amethyst/Ruby offering featuring Elsa and Wreck It Ralph, and an Emerald/Steel list focused around Scar and Kronk:

The new playmats feature Look At This Family and Belle – Accomplished Mystic, two of the most requested pieces of artwork from Ursula’s Return. I personally think that the Belle mat’s absolutely killer, which no doubt means it’ll be sold out everywhere!
There’s also some new 9-pocket portfolios coming with this set – one featuring the Disney Lorcana Card Back and the other a menagerie of the artwork provided by Nicholas Cole, one of Lorcana’s longest standing artists. If you attended any of the recent Disney Lorcana Challenge tournaments you may’ve already seen the Lorcana Card Back folio: top-ranked players who received a full foil set of Ursula’s Return had their cards delivered in that very binder! It’s refreshing to see full 9-pocket portfolios on the market for those who want something a little bigger. They store a little better too in my opinion, if that’s your sort of thing.
Shimmering Stars Spoilers

Overall, there were no massive surprises here. This is more a statement of the franchises you can expect to see in the next booster set – Moana, Donald Duck, Wreck It Ralph, Sword In The Stone, Emperor’s New Groove, The Lion King and Frozen will all be returning – it truly is a party for everyone!
Happy Gaming!
